Cairn

we are all travellers
carrying our loads
leaving stones on roads
it’s not hard to feel alone
when standing still
tasting the tang of loneliness
as you watch the tide
say goodbye to the shore
some paths run parallel
then some diverge
and the hardest part is choosing yours
but don’t despair when you wander this life
just watch the wonder
as each day the beach and the sea embrace
all forgiven, together again
sometimes it’s okay to look back
take a moment to notice that rock stack
it means someone thought of you
someone you never knew
it is a light in the dark, a human mark
so put one foot forward
remember to breathe
and go ahead
leave a stone for me
